Cover Reveal

I’m beyond excited to finally share the cover of my next YA novel with you! IF YOU WERE HERE is coming your way on April 28, 2026, from HarperCollins!

IF YOU WERE HERE by Abigail Johnson

On sale: April 28, 2026 by HarperCollins
Illustration: Allie Runnion
Designer: Julia Feingold
Art Direction: Jenna Stempel-Lobell

One summer. One grumpy local. One centuries-old mystery. Set on the dreamy shores of Nantucket, If You Were Here is a YA romance about finding love, chasing history, and rewriting the story you thought you knew.

Look how pretty!!! Illustrator Allie Runnion captured so many wonderful little details from the book, including the Brant Point Lighthouse, Lili’s red bike, Wren’s glasses, and something special peeking out in the water 👀).

This is my most romantic book yet, brimming with tons of cozy summer vibes (think Stars Hollow meets Cousins Beach), the ultimate forbidden love story, family secrets, and a real-life inspired mystery about one of history’s most notorious female smugglers.

Sounds good, right? If you’re already hooked on the idea of this Gilmore Girls meets Outer Banks YA Romance, you can pre-order a copy of IF YOU WERE HERE now. If it’s not showing up at your favorite retailer, give it a few days and check again. It will be rolling out everywhere over the next couple of weeks.

More from me soon, but in the meantime, I’d love to hear what you think of the cover (there are so many little details that made my heart leap!) and ask you to help me spread the word by:

About Abigail

Abigail Johnson was born in Pennsylvania. When she was twelve, her family traded in snowstorms for year-round summers and moved to Arizona. Abigail chronicled the entire cross-country road trip in a purple spiral-bound notebook that she still has, and has been writing ever since. She became a tetraplegic after breaking her neck in a car accident when she was seventeen but hasn’t let that stop her from bodysurfing in Mexico, writing and directing a high-school production of Cinderella, and riding roller coasters every chance she gets. She is the author of several young adult novels including If I Fix You and Every Other Weekend. She is represented by Kim Lionetti at BookEnds Literary Agency.
