Even If I Fall
Brooke and Heath should never have become friends, let alone fallen in love
A year ago, Brooke Covington lost everything when her beloved older brother, Jason, confessed to the murder of his best friend, Calvin. Brooke and her family became social pariahs, broken and unable to console one another. Brooke’s only solace remains the ice-skating rink, where she works but no longer lets herself dream about a future skating professionally.
When Brooke encounters Calvin’s younger brother, Heath, on the side of the road and offers him a ride, everything changes. She needs someone to talk to…and so does Heath. No one else understands what it’s like. Her brother, alive but gone; his brother, dead but everywhere. Soon, they’re meeting in secret, despite knowing that both families would be horrified if they found out. In the place of his anger and her guilt, something frighteningly tender begins to develop, drawing them ever closer together.
But when a new secret comes out about the murder, Brooke has to choose whose pain she’s willing to live with—her family’s or Heath’s. Because she can’t heal one without hurting the other.

Reminiscent of the Netflix television series Outer Banks, this is a mystery shrouded in history, wrapped up with a love story.”—School Library Journal (⭐starred review)
“Lili’s and Wren’s alternating first-person perspectives grapple thoughtfully with grief and romantic dilemmas. Sweet and insightful.”—Kirkus Reviews
“[A] sensorial grumpy-sunshine love story set on Nantucket. The teens’ interest in local lore—and Lili’s uncanny ability to charm Wren out of his perpetual crankiness—first sparks amiable companionship, then sunny romance, conveyed via lively prose. Alluring history about Nantucket’s maritime roots and its bustling present-day tourist scene enliven the idyllic seaside setting.”—Publishers Weekly
“The slowly progressing romance between the two is centered in the narrative, but the topics of disability (Wren uses a wheelchair), grief, and the importance of family are also highlighted. Wren’s existing relationship with his high-school girlfriend is handled with nuance and empathy. A fun read for those who want a strong plot to go along with the smooching.”—Booklist](https://scontent-dfw5-2.cdninstagram.com/v/t51.82787-15/682725739_18463044826102064_6856789565128301795_n.webp?stp=dst-jpg_e35_tt6&_nc_cat=104&ig_cache_key=Mzg4NjA3MjAxMzIzNjI3Mzc0Mw%3D%3D.3-ccb7-5&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=a54f6b&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiYmVzdF9pbWFnZV91cmxnZW4uQ0FST1VTRUxfSVRFTS5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=4QJfrXWFtMwQ7kNvwGj1wsi&_nc_oc=Adq_dfPlk5KIRjwEOJPOx3tzheBz9RBV_RPjvPBANxdtRNPzbW-R28Jublh36gzjqwg&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-2.cdninstagram.com&edm=ANo9K5cEAAAA&_nc_gid=DleEcdM6SLEBPKUSSD8E1w&_nc_tpa=Q5bMBQK1cpXhBFZ16ZrT3eDy1cmeB5tR4dVrjdOL4fzFJZ6AJGrn7LkYrLzj9T-PnaxoZuqTb29AO3UX&oh=00_AQPfBlywCtZ86ZDNJ1ntGB2uXVRSKIFbdDryHqWTHkU67w&oe=6AD58576)
